That's perhaps why a new Hellboy game hasn't been made since, though the devil-man has been playable in both Injustice 2 and Brawlhalla. Released in 20 respectively, the pair were both critically panned. Hellboy has been the focus of two major game releases, Hellboy: Dogs of the Night and Hellboy: The Science of Evil. It may feel like it's been some time since the recent Hellboy film, but it truly has been a very long time since the release of the most recent Hellboy game.
Hellboy continues to have comics from creator Mike Mignola out semi-frequently, though, and Hellboy Web of Wyrd looks to capitalize on that continued success. Hellboy has fallen out of the pop culture conversation somewhat since the 2019 film rebooted Guillermo del Toro's pair of movies. Hellboy Web of Wyrd will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC and is available to wishlist on Steam.During The Game Awards 2022, a surprise announcement revealed Hellboy Web of Wyrd, an action-adventure rogue-lite based on the hit Dark Horse comic. It’s worth noting that developer’s aforementioned last title happen to star Ron Perlman, the actor best known for portraying Hellboy in Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 film and its 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Lance Reddick of Destiny and John Wick fame will provide the voice of Hellboy.
The game is being developed by Upstream Arcade, the studio behind 2019’s West of Dead, and will follow Hellboy as he is tasked with recovering an agent of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense who has gone missing, fighting supernatural adversaries and navigating strange and terrifying locations. The game’s first trailer, revealed during The Game Awards pre-show, features the eponymous red-skinned paranormal investigator facing off against a wolf-like demon in the ruins of what appears to be an abandoned chapel. Hellboy Web of Wyrd, a new roguelite action adventure game set in the universe of Mike Mignola’s supernatural comic series, was revealed at The Game Awards on Thursday.
